We love hunting for the perfectly proportioned piece of furniture, the ideal overhead light, or inspired art. And often, we find those things from the bigger brands and websites we all know and love. But, there are some terrific, lesser known destinations that we keep going back to for their unique products and approaches. Here are a few of our favorites.
Schoolhouse Electric
This Portland Oregon based creator and manufacturer of lights, furniture and home accessories has a cool, mid century vintage inspired vibe. We're huge fans of their flip clock, 'Work Hard and be Nice' print, and brass bath hardware.
Room and Board
Room and Board has been in the modern furniture business for more than 30 years. Their hand-crafted, American sourced products and collaborations are highly customizable and super high quality. We love their Emmet line of Adirondack chairs made from recycled plastic and the Otis Swivel for its compact footprint.
The Citizenry
The Citizenry is confused on sourcing products throughout the world and collaborating with artisans to design and distribute beautiful, unique handmade goods. We're huge fans of their pillows, towels, and leather ottomans.
BluDot
Our style is more eclectic than modern but for some reason fourth on our list is another designer and creator of just great iconic, clean, modern lined furniture. We picked their Chip Counter Stools for around our kitchen island and think we've sold dozens to friends and family who've enjoyed them for their low profile, super comfy seat, and solid, sturdy build. And who wouldn't love a brand with the tagline: We design it. We stand behind it. We hope you dig it.
McGee & Co.
The Studio McGee team launched their e-commerce business a few years after their incredibly successful design business. They carry many of the same products you'll see used on their projects and they curate an excellent selection of home goods, lighting and furniture. We can't get enough of their ever evolving line of McGee and Co. pillows.
